Pope Francis, Top Sunni Imam Discuss “Coexistence” Submission Pope Francis engaged in his next step down the path to a global Islamic Caliphate on Monday, when he welcomed Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Cairo’s Al-Azhar Mosque, to the Vatican in what is touted as an historic event. The two finished off their cordial rendezvous with a hug and an exchange of kisses. A simple handshake just wouldn’t do, it seems. The Imam is the highest authority in Sunni Islam and marks the progression of warming relations which began when Pope Francis took over in 2013. Francis is not one usually at a loss for words, particularly when it comes to spreading the gospel of Marxism, but in this instance he kept things short and “sweet.” His opening message simply stated “Our meeting is the message.” A statement issued by Al-Azhar, an institution that also houses a site for religious scholars, said that Tayeb had accepted Francis’ invitation in order to “explore efforts to spread peace and coexistence.” Of course, coexistence between Islam and other faiths involves their acceptance of Islamic supremacy, a condition that often makes coexistence a bit tough to negotiate.
